La Traska, Passeig del Terrapie 82, Molins de Rei. OK, so it’s a haul, and technically, it’s not even in Barcelona. In the middle of a nondescript suburban neighborhood, next to the freeway, is the basque bar with our favorite food so far. You get your tapas the traditional way, on big platters at the counter. As soon as they arrive, fill your own plate with toothpick studded yummies, and pay on the way out by counting up your sticks. Some jostling involved when crowd favorites arrive out of the kitchen! The ambiance is warm mountain cabin with a cool vibe. And La Truska, while miles away, is miles better than any of our other regulars in the heart of the city. Update on March 8, 2012 -- Hate when something good goes wrong -- last two times have been nothing special, took it off the best restaurant list. Cervesaria Catalana and Bar V are doing as good or better job these days, and they are right in the city.
