The almond trees are impatient. I was impatient too. Before. Barcelona teaches me to wait. And wait. I take advantage of it now. I write novels on index cards as I stand in line at the meat counter. I practice my Spanish with one salesperson while the other one takes an hour to dig up my size from the storage room. I walk and slowly and take pictures of everything when the buses and trains go on strike. Patience, a virtue. But oh, how I love to see the bursting almond trees, ignoring the seasons, being pushy, reminding me of my old self!
